About

Lindsey Owen is an Artist/Animator with years of experience in educational & children’s games.

Starting out in the world of educational digital publishing, creating a huge range of illustrations & animations for school software, she then moved to London where she worked in children’s online & mobile games. Here she was involved in animation & asset creation on big brands for companies such as Disney & the BBC, and as such developed a keen eye for brand awareness & varying audience styles. She was involved in all stages of the visual side of game creation.

The last few years has seen Lindsey working on her own IP & projects. Founding an indie game co. with a friend, they released a series of mobile games and asset packs to great reception. She is now currently freelancing, whilst awaiting the release of a couple of creative side projects.

SOFTWARE: ADOBE CREATIVE – PHOTOSHOP, ILLUSTRATOR, ANIMATE, INDESIGN, AFTER EFFECTS – SPINE, BLENDER, UNITY

Lindsey studied BA Design: Animation at Staffordshire University, and with a love of traditional drawing has continued to take life drawing courses throughout her life.

In 2015, after leaving London, she went to France to study classical modern drawing & painting at Studio Escalier. It was an incredible experience which really opened her eyes to the core foundations of traditional art, colour & light theory.

Lindsey has a very kooky sense of humour, which greatly feeds in to her work. She used to be a very quiet type, the kind you would see with their head down just getting on with work, though at the same time she has an adventurous streak & loves to explore new cultures and meet new people. This bold streak has probably played a big part in her recent years events of travelling, founding an indie company & releasing her own projects.

The “16 personalities” test describes Lindsey as an ENFJ/ The protagonist – a natural leader and caring, teacher type. Several people have told her she would make a great teacher, though she loves the joy of hands on work & seeing her ideas come to life.

Lindsey is an all round great person to have around, be it for her creativity or just her pleasant vibes! As well as being a highly talented illustrator/animator, she always showed an effortless proffesionalism in the face of sometimes challenging situations. Where others project their stress under pressure, Lindsey always manages to channel her emotion into her artistic output, with consistently excellent results. Likewise, her ability to convert critiscm into new avenues of possibility gave projects an exciting air of discovery. She would always work beyond the call of duty, meeting not only her daily remit, but excelling in it. I miss working with Lindsey and should the opportunity arise again, I would savour the chance to have her onboard a project. It's rare to find someone with such an equal measure of levelheadedness and passion in the fast moving world of media and that makes Lindsey a valuable asset to any company.

Lindsey's attitude to work is exemplary. In the five years I worked with her as a colleague, and later as her manager, Lindsey proved herself to be enthusiastic, reliable and trustworthy. The design work she produced always exceeded expectations. The nature of design at Boardworks means that Lindsey is well versed at working as an individual designer, managing her own workload and taking creative control for projects. But she is just as comfortable working as part of a team. Using her extensive knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Flash, she has run well received, in-house training courses where she's passed on her knowledge to colleagues in the editorial department to give them a grasp of 'the basics'. I have no reservations in recommending Lindsey for work, she will not disappoint!

I worked most closely with Lindsey on a Primary Spanish project at Boardworks. Lindsey really rose to the challenge of creating a complete, unique and vibrant world for the key characters to inhabit. Her intuitive interpretation of briefs, wry sense of humour and keen attention to detail meant that the characters really came to life and leapt off the screen. I was most impressed with her animated cartoons that formed the basis of a series of song 'videos', as well as her beautiful black & white drawings done in InDesign for the products extensive worksheets. Lindsey also did a fantastic job of designing the look of the puppets to accompany the product, as well as product stickers and extensive marketing materials. In short, Lindsey is a highly talented individual and a pleasure to work with. I have no hesitation in recommending her.
